Football and fashion, a duo we never thought we needed….

Fashion and Football ?? As polar opposite as it may seem together. It actually goes a long way.

For years big named brands like Burberry, Dior, Adidas, and Nike have benefited hugely by collaborating with football players, Thanks to their deeply passionate massive fanbase.

Back in the ’60s, The Northern Irish Footballer Late George Best was known as the “rock ‘n’ roll” Footballer. Media and his fans linked him with the popular boy band Beatles because of his fashionable outfits and high-fashion pop culture style.

George Best was often seen dazzled up in his heavy Merseybeat fringe, suits, boots, and occasionally fringed leather jackets and hot denim pants.  His love for fashion didn’t just remain in his styles, the world’s first celebrity Footballer also opened a boutique to further expand his love for fashion.

From the 1960s to 2022 fashion has evolved eminently but footballers’ love for fashion has further extended. This has now garnered brand attention, big named brands are linking up with these sports stars and making a fortune out of it.

Football athletes like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have reckoned up more than 300M plus followers each. As of 20th Oct 2022, Cristiano Ronaldo is the most followed footballer on Instagram, he has around 493M Instagram followers. This has proven  Football players to be impactful ambassadors for the brands to improve their revenue as well as their brand value—especially their social media presence.

With the rise of social media, connecting with your stars has been easier than before. We through their posts get to interact and learn about their life.  What brands they associate with in their day-to-day lives and more. This further tempts the fans to buy brands that their favorite celebs use, eventually helping the fashion brands to boost their sales and increase their revenue.

Long gone are the days when sports attire was just for sports. Nowadays we see people incorporating sports attire into their day-to-day Fashion and rocking it.

We can’t forget to mention the FIFA World Cup as a football topic. Happening every four  years, the FIFA World Cup is the biggest football tournament with over 30 plus nations taking part in it.
